Experience the ever-changing and ever-growing kaleidoscope that is India. The ancient civilization throbs with energy and life.
Learn about the country first-hand through this sixteen-day intersession program. Dr. Ashok Malhotra will guide you through a multi-disciplinary perspective, featuring excursions to places of historical, religious, and artistic significance.

Participants may register for college credit or join the group on a non-credit basis.
An orientation program for all participants will be held
on the SUNY Oneonta campus on November 2-3. Overnight housing is available
at the Morris Conference Center at a modest cost.

Visit Old and New Delhi:
The ancient Indian city and the present-day capital featuring impressive monuments of Mogul and British architecture.
Agra:
The home of the Taj Mahal.

Jaipur:
The "pink city" of India, home to Rajasthani palaces and architectural wonders.
Dundlod:
The northern desert village, location of the Indo-International
School established by the SUNY Oneonta Semester in India program.

In the village of Dundlod, you will have opportunities to take part in several service- learning projects, such as tutoring children in the English language and helping with the construction and expansion of the Indo-International School.

Through Learn and Serve in India 2002, you can continue the tradition of service established by the SUNY Oneonta Semester in India program in 1996. Participants founded the Indo-International School, which provides educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
Participants in this year's program will help construct a new building for the high school, teach classes, and work in the library and playground, continuing the legacy and commitment of the SUNY Oneonta community to serving others.
Program Director
Professor Ashok Malhotra,
a native of India, has taught philosophy at SUNY Oneonta for over 30 years.
A recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, Dr.
Malhotra has led the College's programs in India 13 times previously.
For the past two years, Ms. Linda Drake of the College's Center for Social
Responsibility and Community has served as co-director of the program.
Professor Malhotra, Education Professor Suzanne Miller, and SUNY Oneonta student Josie Basile were the driving forces behind the founding of the Indo-International School on the 1996 trip.
Through the Ninash Foundation, founded in memory of his
wife "to promote literacy among children and adults throughout the world,"
Dr. Malhotra will be raising funds to expand the Indo-International School
into a high school complete with computers and vocational centers.

$1040.55 (out-of-state tuition & fees - 3 credits)
$42.00 (full coverage - health insurance*)
*If students have their own health insurance and it covers them overseas, they will only have to purchase the mandatory evacuation & repatriation insurance at a cost of $3.75.
