Divisional Honors and Honors Program | |
Students are eligible for both divisional and college honors. Honors residency requirements in the major is at least 24 s.h. Transfer students must have at least 18 s.h. in residence in the major. A degree with honors in the academic area is awarded to the student who has completed the major residency requirement at this college with a 3.50 GPA or better, if recommended by the department. Students may not qualify for divisional honors in an academic area for which they have not registered as a major. A student with two major academic areas may qualify for honors in both areas. It is the responsibility of the student to request, through the assistant dean, consideration for divisional honors in each academic area.
The Division of Economics and Business supports participation in the College Honors Program by students enrolled in Division majors. Students who have been invited to join the Honors Program upon admission to the College are encouraged to identify themselves to the Assistant Dean of Economics and Business. Matriculated students whose academic records qualify them for admission to the Honors Program are encouraged to contact Dr. Michael Merilan, Director of Honors Program, Dean, Division of Science & Social Science, 336 Netzer Administration Building, (607) 436-2125. Additional information is available at: http://www.oneonta.edu/development/admissions/HonorsProgram.asp Students in Economics and Business enjoy the advantage of taking an integrative, multi-disciplinary capstone course in Strategic Management as part of the Business Economics and Accounting majors. This makes it possible to more readily complete the final stage of the Honors Program. However, qualified students must commit to the Honors Program at an early stage of their academic program so that the Division can properly plan offering Honors sections of courses in a timely manner.
